Basic Vegan Rice

Basic Brown Rice 

  • 1 cup brown rice 
  • 2 cups water
  • ½ teaspoon salt (optional)

Rinse rice well in a colander with water and drain. Bring water to boil and add rice. Cover and lower heat to simmer and cook for 40 minutes. Keep rice covered and don’t check on it. Turn off heat and let rice rest for 5 minutes. Fluff and add salt if using.

Basic White Rice 

  • 1 cup white rice 
  • 1½ cups water
  •  ½ teaspoon Salt (optional)

Bring water to boil and add rice. Cover and lower heat to simmer. Keep rice covered and don’t check on it. Let rice simmer for 20 minutes. Turn off heat and let rest for 5 minutes. Fluff and add salt.
