This pie crust can be used for tarts or non-baked pies. It is a nice alternative to a regular crust.

  • 1 cup of all-purpose or whole wheat pastry flour
  • ½ teaspoon of salt
  • ¼ cup of maple syrup
  • ¼ cup of vegan butter, melted or coconut oil

Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).  Combine walnuts, flour, and salt in a food processor and pulse until a fine meal is formed. Add maple syrup and butter and pulse until the dough is well mixed with the nuts a medium coarse texture. Place the dough in a pie or tart pan and press around until the inside of the pan is evenly covered with the dough. Bake for 15-20 minutes, until lightly browned. Let cool before filling.
